Pisay, a quaint and picturesque village nestled in the heart of Bihar's Aurangabad district, is a microcosm of rural India at its best. Dominated by the Bhumihar Brahman (Babhan) caste, known for their impeccable sense of community and generosity towards others, Pisay is a village where one can witness the true spirit of rural India. Long ago, its Muslim inhabitants the original natives pronounced and wrote it as Pisai or Pisayee, a name that echoed in their daily prayers and conversations.

After Partition in 1947, most of these families migrated to Pakistan, leaving the village behind.

With their departure, the lingering “ee” sound gradually faded, and the shorter Pisay became the everyday spoken and written form among the new residents.

It is a village that is rich in history and culture, with a deep-rooted sense of tradition that is palpable in the air. The villagers of Pisay, blessed with bountiful lands, are considered to be quite well-off in comparison to other villages in the region.

However, this idyllic village has not been immune to the maladies that afflict rural India. For a considerable period of time, Pisay has been affected by the insidious Naxalism, which has left its indelible mark on the village and its people.

Despite the challenges posed by Naxalism, the village has managed to maintain a steady level of development and progress. Though not quite at par with other villages in the region, Pisay has been making steady strides towards a brighter future.

Unfortunately, the fight against Naxalism has not been without its casualties. Many of Pisay's valiant sons and daughters have lost their lives in this war, leaving behind deep wounds in the community. But the people of Pisay have not let this dampen their spirits. They have continued to persevere, working towards a brighter future for their village.

In conclusion, Pisay is a unique village that is known for its strong sense of community, generosity, and resilience. It is a village that is rich in history and culture, with a deep-rooted sense of tradition that

The school is co-educational, Hindi is the medium of instruction, and the academic session starts in April. It has a government building with 5 classrooms in good condition, 2 other rooms for non-teaching activities, and a separate room for the Headmaster/Teacher. There is no boundary wall and no electric connection, but drinking water comes from a functional hand pump. The school has 1 boys toilet and 1 girls toilet, both functional, along with a playground. There is no library and no books, no ramp is needed, and no computers are available for teaching. Mid-day meals are provided and prepared in the school premises. For over six decades, this simple school has remained the only ladder of formal education for Pisay’s children.

Brief History of Pisay

Village Pisay has a long and rich history dating back to the late 1800s. Initially, the villagers were primarily Muslim and of various castes other than Bhumihar. At that time, the village had a graveyard(Now became resrvoir of water for irrigation) for the Muslim community but no mosque. However, in 1888 or 1889, a villager named Upadhay Jee invited a person named Gulab Baba  from the village of Godiha to come to Pisay. Gulab Baba established his dynasty with his four sons and over time, his family purchased all of the land in the village and became landlords. As a result, villagers other than Bhumihar left the village for their livelihood. Now, only Bhumihar villagers from the four sons of Gulab Baba have lived in the village for a long time. The village experienced a period of prosperity and spiritual growth.

However, some members of the Bhumihar community later moved to other villages such as Poktha. Then, during the period of Naxalism, the development of the village stopped and the village faced problems with basic facilities. One major accident occurred during this time, in which 7 members of the village lost their lives in a bomb blast in front of the village. The village was in extreme shock after this incident but eventually, the wound healed and the village came out of shock. However, even now, the rate of development is slower than any village in Bihar.
